Pear "salad" is a simple, southern dish that combines a few pantry staples to make a one nostalgic, sweet & savory head-turner.

Ingredients
Two 14.5oz cans pear halves
-
½ cup Duke’s Real Mayonnaise
¾ cup shredded white extra sharp cheddar cheese
8 maraschino cherries
Butter lettuce for platting and garnish
Directions
Remove pear halves from juice and dry gently with a paper towel. Allow them to rest on the paper towel for a few minutes before beginning to assemble the salad.
Place the butter lettuce to cover the entire serving plate and nestle the pear halves (pit facing upward) into the lettuce. You want the pears to be fairly supported by the lettuce, so they don’t move around too much.
Place a tablespoon of Duke’s Mayo into the center “pit” of each pear halve (you should have 8 tablespoons for 8 pear halves).
Generously top each dollop of mayo with the shredded extra sharp white cheddar cheese and then finish with a maraschino cherry on top.
Recipe Note
TIP: Make ahead up to 24 hours; just cover with plastic wrap or place in an airtight container and refrigerate until you’re ready to serve. Place the cherries on top right before serving.
